Design for Production

Once the design is done, you are ready for production. – Or you should be!
We have relationships with many manufacturing companies that regularly come to us with their client’s designs that have been done elsewhere, that are not viable for production for different reasons.

We are then tasked with the redesign work necessary to make it possible to manufacture. This obviously introduces unexpected delays and costs that they did not expect.

Production ready design

Our staff here at Alphatech come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we have members that have worked in manufacturing and in the plastics industry.

This gives us a good understanding into how to design products that can be produced with little or no modification when the design is passed on for manufacture.

This means that your money and time is not wasted on re-work and redesign when the manufacturer rejects the designs as being unworkable, not viable or the production costs turn out to be too high.

Production of plastic components

Injection moulded plastic parts feature in most new products nowadays and all these parts will need mould tools which are likely to be a significant investment.

Tooling costs can vary widely depending on the complexity of the tool. The number of moving cores, type of ejection, complexity of the shut-off faces and many other factors all play a part in determining the cost of the tool.

Knowing how to design a plastic part that will minimise the tooling cost can save you money and time.

Sourcing production and tooling

Over our 27 years in business, we have developed a network of great manufacturing partners in many sectors. And have got to know their strengths and weaknesses.

This puts us in a strong position to be able to recommend certain suppliers for certain requirements.

We can either introduce you to the best supplier for your particular needs or source the parts and deal directly with the supplier or manufacturer on your behalf.

Concept

You may or may not have a clear idea of what your how your product will look or function. We can develop a concept as a starting point for product development.

Prototype

It is usually essential to design and build a prototype of your product to test fuctionality, aesthetics and usability. We can provide all you need.

Development

You may already have a prototype but need help in turning the this into a production ready design. Or maybe you need to update and modernise an existing product.

Production

To develop a production ready design that is feasible and cost effective, you need in-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods. We have the experience to get you the results you need.
