This is a sterilisation tray that we designed for one of our injection moulding clients.

The tray is generally used in hospitals for the sterilisation of surgical equipment before re-use. The equipment would typically be long instruments like scopes and laparoscopic tools.

The main criteria for the tray are, that: It is robust, it is not affected by aggressive sterilisation methods, the sterilisation medium can get to all areas of the contained device, that the tray drains freely and the trays are stackable.

Alphatech designed the trays to the end client’s specifications. No modifications were requested and tooling was made and the part moulded without any changes to the design.

Plastic sack-holder for commercial use. – A ‘flip-top’ foot operated bin that uses a refuse sack .

The brief for this project was to design an all plastic sack-holder that could be sold at a fraction of the price of the ones that were available to the client at that time. They would need to perform to, at least, the same standard and had the same or more features.

The existing sack-holders had a retail price of £90 and the target was to bring the retail price down closer to the metal sack-holders (around £25 I believe).

The sack-holder has the following features:

Foot operated ‘flip’ lid.
Device to trap the top of the refuse sack and hold it securely.
Strong top frame to support the weight of a full sack.
Wheels for easy re-positioning of the bin.
Soft-close lid.
Easy self-assembly.
Small packaging space.
Easy to clean.
No dirt traps.

The project was completed and met all the criteria.

This was billed as the Ultimate Hanger. The design was developed by Alphatech along with our client to meet his specifications.

It features adjustable arms to perfectly fit any size garment. Collapsible ‘fingers’ on spoon shaped ends to gently support the shoulders of your precious clothes (we’ve all seen the ugly stretch marks that some hangers can leave, haven’t we?)

The product is 100% moulded plastic and made from re-cycled materials.

The design was completed, prototypes made and successfully trialled, brochures produced, a worldwide distribution network put in place. Interest was obtained from hotel chains, airlines and retailers. The next step was tooling and manufacture.

Sadly, due to the ill health of our client the project faltered and none were ever produced.
